Fargo-Moorhead has many fun things to do during the summer, including many miles of bike paths throughout the area and other ways to get outside and enjoy the weather.

Summer in Fargo-Moorhead is filled with events, concerts and opportunities to explore the outdoors.

Pack your sunscreen and enjoy 12 fun things to do this summer:

Ribfest

Happy Harry’s Ribfest

Eat delicious barbecue and enjoy live music during Happy Harry’s Ribfest June 7 to 10 at the Fargodome. Known as the “Kickoff to Summer,” Ribfest has been providing fun and food to the Fargo-Moorhead area for over 25 years.

TedxFargo

Take the Ted Talks from your screen to the Fargo Civic Center. This summer, TedxFargo EDGE returns on July 20 with another year of inspiring speakers. This year’s speakers are local, national and global leaders who will all share what it means to live on the edge.

Red River Valley Fair

Red River Valley Fair

The Red River Valley Fair features ten days of carnival rides and games, fried food, concerts and agriculture exhibits. Headliners for this year’s fair concerts include Dan + Shay, Third Eye Blind, Jelly Roll and Flo Rida. The fair begins on July 7.

Red River Market

The Red River Market season kicks off on July 8 at Broadway Square in downtown Fargo. Each Saturday through late October, the market features over 90 vendors with locally sourced produce, baked goods, pantry items, hot food, beverages and art. Plus, enjoy live entertainment from local performers and other fun programming throughout the season.

Food truck

Fargo Food Truck Festival

The 10th annual Fargo Food Truck Festival will feature 20 food vendors serving a variety of delicious dishes. The festival runs from August 11 to August 13 at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds.

Swimming

The Fargo Park District has many outdoor pools that are great places to swim throughout the summer. Public pools open June 5 and close in August. NDSU’s pool located in the Wallman Wellness Center offers a six-lane lap pool, leisure pool and sauna.

Bluestem concert

Outdoor concerts

Soak in the warm weather with outdoor musical entertainment throughout the summer.

Bluestem Amphitheater’s annual concert series begins in August with headliners Train on August 5, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats on August 15 and Lindsey Stirling on August 23.

On June 7, Michael Franti & Spearhead perform outdoors at Fargo Brewing Company. Marcus King takes the stage on June 11 and Ben Folds on July 1.

Plus, enjoy headliners at the Red River Valley Fair from July 7 to July 16.

Get outside at local parks

The Fargo Park District has over 150 parks to explore. There’s lots to explore on the 105 miles of scenic paths and trails. The district also has numerous bike trails, disc golf courses, tennis courts and dog parks. Lindenwood Park offers bike and kayak rentals so you can pedal or paddle along the Red River. You also can rent equipment at the NDSU Wellness Center.

Night Bazaar

Night Bazaar

Enjoy evenings of revelry during Folkway’s Night Bazaar in June, July and September. This night market features live performances, local vendors and food. With themes of circus, renaissance and magic, you are sure to have a fun night.  

Downtown Fargo Street Fair

For three days in July, the streets of downtown Fargo will be filled for the Downtown Fargo Street Fair. Browse vendors, eat food and enjoy a variety of live entertainment as you stroll through downtown.

FM Golf

Golf

Fargo offers five public golf courses that offer courses for every level of play. For an easier round, give Prairiewood, Osgood or El Zagal a try. If you are looking for a challenge, head to Rose Creek or Edgewood. El Zagal also offers the only footgolf course in the area.

Renaissance Fair

Hear ye, hear ye! The North Dakota Renaissance Fair returns this summer at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds on August 5 to 6 and 12 to13. The era will come alive with jousting matches, artisans, minstrels, jugglers and food of the age. Dress up as a lord, lady or knight and take in the sights, sounds and tastes of the Renaissance.
