NDSU Public Health and partners named Public Health Team of the Year

Public Health team of the year

Ramona Danielson, faculty member in the NDSU Public Health department, student Tahni Parisien and NDSU Public Health alum Jacob Davis are part of a group recently named Public Health Team of the Year. The annual award is presented to a team that works collaboratively on a unique, creative or outstanding public health effort, program or goal. The group was recognized at the Dakota Conference on June 15, 2023.

They are part of the North Dakota Healthy Outcomes Program, a five-year project funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Healthy Outcomes was designed to improve access to healthy food and health-promoting environment by using community engagement and culture as overarching strategies to reduce health disparities.

Project partners include Standing Rock Nation, Turtle Mountain Nation, NDSU Department of Public Health, NDSU Extension, and Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota. The team has been successful in its mission to engage and educate the communities they work with, and to improve access to healthy and traditional food systems, while also increasing opportunities for culturally informed physical activity.

This is the second consecutive year that team members from the NDSU Department of Public Health have received this award.

NDSU is a member of the Association of Schools and Programs for Public Health and the MPH program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.

NDSU offers accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree options, a certificate in public health and a dual degree option. In addition to graduate programs in public health, a Bachelor of Science in health services is offered, as well as an undergraduate minor in public health.
