What to expect on move-in day

Move in day photo
Move-in day for first-year and transfer students is Satuday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

NDSU Move-in day is one of the most exciting days of the year, as more than 2,500 new students move to campus and officially begin their NDSU experience. Move-in day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residence Life has compiled a list of things to help provide students and their families a smooth and successful move-in experience.

Move-in day arrival time slot

To help ease traffic concerns, students should select a one-hour arrival time slot for move-in day.

Start your journey

Turn off your GPS when you get to campus. Each residence hall has specific driving directions for location, unloading and parking. In August, you will receive a mailing to your permanent address that will provide an automobile dashboard sign with your hall’s name on it. Put that on your dashboard before you arrive to campus. Tune into 96.3 FM for NDSU move-in day traffic updates.

Arrival

Students: When you arrive to campus, proceed to your hall’s designated check-in location. Hall staff will provide you with your room key, parking permit and check-in paperwork. Please bring a photo ID for this step.

Families: When you arrive, fully unload all your student’s belongings then designate a person to drive to your assigned parking lot. Parking permits are not required during move-in. Do not leave your car unattended in the unloading area.

Move in:

Before you unpack, complete your green Room Condition Form (RCF) and return it to the hall office. After that, you can fully move in your belongings.

Pro-tips

Before getting to campus, label your items with your hall and room number.

We offer a limited number of carts but encourage you to bring your own cart/dolly.
