Freeze mob at NDSU raises awareness about sexual assault

Approximately 50 student, faculty and staff volunteers conducted a freeze mob on April 3 in the Memorial Union to raise awareness about sexual assault and provide violence prevention information.

The volunteers, wearing T-shirts with sexual assault prevention tips on the back, stopped what they were doing for two minutes because every two minutes, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted. There are nine different T-shirt designs and messages.

Sarah Dodd, assistant director for sexual assault prevention programming at NDSU, said the intent was to make people curious when they saw the frozen volunteers and read the T-shirts so that they would ask questions.

The freeze mob was organized by NDSU’s violence prevention educators, a group of 10 students trained to be sexual assault peer educators. The violence prevention educators are part of NDSU’s sexual assault prevention programs.

NDSU is student focused and committed to its land-grant mission.
