Communication researchers’ work published

Amy O’Connor, associate professor and director of graduate studies in the Department of Communication, and Laura Beauchamp, a former communication graduate student, will have their article, “America’s Most Admired Companies: A Descriptive Analysis of CEO Corporate Social Responsibility Statements,” published in an upcoming issue of Public Relations Review.

The article is based on Beauchamp’s master’s thesis, directed by O’Connor, and the publication will list Beauchamp as the first author. Beauchamp is a senior account executive for Cause Branding at Cone Communications in Boston.

Also, O’Connor and former NDSU faculty member Michelle Shumate, who is now an associate professor at the University of Illinois, had their 2010 article (that appeared in Management Communication Quarterly) republished by The Conference Board, which is a global, independent business membership and research association. The edited-for-business-audience publication is titled "The communication patterns of corporate social responsibility within and across industries.” It will appear in the April 2012 edition. The Conference Board engages experts from several disciplines of business leadership, including corporate governance, risk oversight and sustainability, in an open dialogue about issues of concern to member companies.

NDSU is a top-ranked research institution that combines teaching and research in a rich learning environment.
