NDSU hires disability specialist

NDSU Disability Services has hired Anita Hanson as a disability specialist.

Hanson will work with students with disabilities to access reasonable accommodations, determine eligibility, and assist in identifying and implementing accommodations. She also will coordinate the application of assistive technology programs for students with disabilities and help educate students and the campus community on disability-related topics and issues. She will serve as a resource to faculty and staff regarding disability issues and accommodations to help ensure equal access for students.

Hanson earned her bachelor’s degree from NDSU and her master’s degree in educational psychology at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She worked at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet, Minn., for more than 16 years. While at Fond du Lac, which is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, Hanson was a counselor and disability services coordinator. Most recently, she served as the interim dean of student services for three and a half years.

Disability Services is located at 170 Wallman Wellness Center, phone 231-8463.
