Regional and international artists are featured in a contemporary print exhibition being presented at the NDSU Memorial Union Gallery. “Infinite Prints: Ink, Press, Repeat” opened Feb. 5 and will continue through March 2. The exhibit showcases multiple printmaking techniques and pieces from the Memorial Union Gallery and Department of Visual Arts collections. 

Printmaking has become popular among students and artists as it can portray social commentary, humor and activism. The purpose of the exhibit is to introduce a wide range of printmaking techniques and practices to educate students and the community, allowing the audience to view different forms of printmaking techniques including relief, intaglio, serigraphy and lithography. 

Regional artist Kent Kapplinger, associate professor of visual arts at NDSU, is scheduled to present an artist’s talk Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. He will discuss the processes and differences in printmaking techniques. 

Highlighted artists include Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, Glen Alps, Walter Piehl, Star Wallowing Bull, Eric Johnson, Janue Quick-To-See-Smith and Kapplinger. Items in the exhibit were provided by Student Art, Ralph Engel Memorial, Lakeside Studio and the Memorial Union. Included also are collections from the Memorial Union Gallery and Art Bank and the Printmaking Education and Research Studio collections from the NDSU Department of Visual Arts. 

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
