Assistant professor elected fellow of British Computer Society

Khan

Samee U.Khan, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, was elected a fellow of the British Computer Society. It is the highest member grade the society bestows.

A congratulatory letter to Khan from the society stated, “As a fellow, you take your place among the most senior and respected professionals in information technology. Fellowship is one of the British Computer Society's most valuable assets. Combining a wealth of knowledge and experience, our fellows enable the society to have real influence in the industry.”

The British Computer Society is arguably one of the two largest societies for computer scientists and information technology professionals, Khan said. Conceived in 1957, the society has more than 71,000 members from more than 100 countries. Of its membership, only 2,903 are classified as the fellows.  

Khan is an adjunct computer science professor at NDSU and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan. Khan also is a visiting professor of cloud computing at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
