Leadership Lecture Series to discuss stereotyping

Oakgrove

The next event in the Leadership Lecture Series will tackle stereotyping. Frank Oakgrove, program coordinator for the Office of Multicultural Programs, is scheduled to present “Impact vs. Intent: The Problem with Stereotyping” on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Mandan room. The event is free and open to the public.

The interactive lecture will show clips from media via YouTube to highlight assumptions and beliefs that have been heard about cultural or ethnic groups. Attendees will learn to “check” their stereotypes and to address stereotypes within the community.

The Leadership Lecture Series are one-hour life skills presentations intended to provide real-world skills that student leaders can immediately use in their lives.

More information on the series is available at www.ndsu.edu/mu/programs/leadership_ programs/leadership_lecture_series.
