This April, in honor of Civic Education Month, NDSU is hosting events to foster dialogue and positive action.

"Nuts and Bolts of Starting a Non-Profit," is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Prairie Rose room. Dawn Kaiser, the founder of Hope's Journey, a non-profit which brings hope and healing to kids in Africa, will discuss what she learned while creating the organization.

The Big Event – a day for NDSU students, faculty and staff to say "thank you" to the Fargo/Moorhead community through volunteering – is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The annual event is expected to garner more than 500 volunteers to help with a variety of projects in the community, both for citizens and non-profit organizations. Examples of volunteer activities include helping residents rake leaves, clean and complete everyday tasks. For more information, visit www.ndsubigevent.com.

On Friday, May 3, students, faculty, staff and alumni will be inducted into the Tapestry of Diverse Talents, a pictorial mosaic that recognizes for the diversity and contributions they bring to NDSU. The stories of the individuals being inducted will be told during a ceremony at noon in the Memorial Union Century Theater. A reception will follow in the Butte Lounge.
