Animal sciences research highlighted at Brazilian conference

Caton

Joel Caton, professor of animal sciences, was in Brazil in March to present two invited presentations highlighting research efforts from collaborative programs between the NDSU Center for Nutrition and Pregnancy and the NDSU Department of Animal Sciences.

The presentations were part of the international conference XVII Curso “Novos Enfoques na Produção e Reprodução de Bovinos” held March 14 and 15.

Caton’s one-hour presentations were titled “Emerging Concepts of Epigenetics: Background, Significance and Potential Relevance in Livestock Production” and “Maternal Plane of Nutrition: Impact on the Offspring.” At the close of the conference, invited speakers participated in an hour-long roundtable discussion with conference attendees on specific questions regarding emerging animal science.

Other invited speakers included faculty from University of Nottingham, Kansas State University, University of Florida, Michigan State University, University of Wisconsin, University of British Columbia, University of Minnesota, Ohio State University, Oregon State University and University of Wyoming.
