Music of the Americas Choral Symposium scheduled

The NDSU School of Music will present NDSU Choral Symposium: Music of the Americas May 3-5. Three concerts are scheduled. Each is free and open to the public.

  • Friday, May 3, 7:30 p.m. – Choral Music of the Americas Opening Concert
  • Saturday, May 4, 7:30 p.m. – American Spiritual Ensemble
  • Sunday, May 5, noon – Choral Music of the Americas Closing Concert

Everett McCorvey founded the American Spiritual Ensemble in 1995. Its mission is to keep the American Negro Spiritual alive. Its members have sung in theaters and opera houses around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and abroad in Italy, Germany, Britain, Scotland, Spain, China and Japan. The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from opera to spirituals to Broadway.

The symposium is funded in part with a gift from the Fossum Foundation and the SU Impact Fund Grant Program, both administered by the NDSU Development Foundation.
