Middle school and high school students from four countries will meet by teleconference at NDSU Wednesday, May 15, to present research from an intensive six-month project. The second International WateRediscover Conference is set for 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in EML 183 on the NDSU campus.
Seven teams from Bangladesh, India, Saudi Arabia and the United States each will give 15-minute presentations on projects where they designed, fabricated and tested wastewater-recycling units following an engineering design process.
“The primary objective of WateRediscover is to entice our younger generation to science, technology, engineering and math education,” said Achintya Bezbaruah, assistant professor of civil engineering at NDSU and WateRediscover project director. “This also will give our students in the U.S. the opportunity to interact with their peers from across the globe.”
The teleconference includes welcomes from NDSU Dean L. Bresciani; Gary Smith, dean of engineering and architecture; Achintya Bezbaruah, assistant professor of civil engineering, West Fargo Public Schools superintendent David Flowers and Tezpur University, India, vice chancellor Mihir K. Chaudhuri.
According to Bezbaruah, This program is noncompetitive, and this year each participant in the WateRediscover program will receive a certificate from NDSU.
