Student brother and sister named to Academic All-America team

NDSU senior golfers Nathan Anderson and Amy Anderson were named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division I at-large men’s and women’s first teams June 6. The selections were made by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The brother and sister from Oxbow, N.D., both majored in accounting at NDSU. Nathan Anderson, a second-team pick in 2012, had a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average. Amy Anderson, a first-team pick in 2012 and second-team honoree in 2011, had a 3.97 grade-point average.

Nathan Anderson led The Summit League with a school-record 72.23 scoring average, won two tournaments and was runner-up at two other events. Amy Anderson led The Summit League for the fourth consecutive year with a school-record 72.84 average. She had five tournament wins for the fourth straight year and broke professional golfer Juli Inkster’s collegiate record of 17 wins.

To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors, student-athletes must have a 3.30 or better cumulative grade-point average, sophomore athletic standing and be a starter or key reserve for their team. At-large eligible sports are women’s bowling, women’s crew, fencing, women’s field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, men’s volleyball, water polo and men’s wrestling.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
