NDSU Libraries launches new search, interlibrary loan systems

The NDSU Libraries recently launched two new items designed to help users search for and obtain materials.

HerdSearch is an improved search engine that allows users to search everything in the library with one click. A homepage search finds everything in a traditional library catalog, such as books, journal articles, government documents and DVDs, as well as most content available through the Libraries’ electronic databases. This includes everything found in the NDSU Archives, the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection, NDSU Institutional Repository and Digital Horizons.

Users can use HerdSearch to find information and access, read and download the full text when it is available. HerdSearch is available at the Libraries’ homepage, http://library.ndsu.edu.

The NDSU Libraries also launched ILLiad, a new interlibrary loan system. ILLiad makes it easier for users to request and track resources from other libraries. Some article requests also are available through the system.

Users need to create an ILLiad account to make new requests or view previous ones. For more information about the system, contact the Interlibrary Loan Department at 701-231-8885.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
