The NDSU Research Extension Centers have scheduled several July events.

Barley will be the focus during the Dickinson, N.D., Research Extension Center’s summer field day at 8:30 a.m. on July 10. The event is being held in conjunction with a barley field school sponsored by the NDSU Institute of Barley and Malt Sciences and the North Dakota Barley Council. 

Presenters include Patrick Carr, Dickinson Research Extension Center agronomist; Rich Horsley, chair of the NDSU plant sciences department; and Paul Schwartz, professor of malt barley quality.

The Research Extension Center in Carrington, N.D., will highlight research trials, crop variety performance, production management, and pest and soil management during its annual field day beginning at 9:30 a.m. on July 16.

The Carrington center also will look at organic crop production and sustainable agriculture.

Several speakers are scheduled to give presentations following field tours.

The North Central Research Extension Center in Minot, N.D., will delve into winter wheat production and management during a field day at 9 a.m. on July 17. 

The event also includes a pest diagnostic clinic and sessions on weeds, crop diseases and insects. People attending these sessions are welcomed to bring plant samples and insect specimens.
