Student Health Service again earns accreditation

Lonbaken

Student Health Service has received a three-year accreditation.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care last month informed Patricia Dirk, director of Student Health Service, after a site survey in June.

“The Student Health Service having received a three-year certificate of accreditation, which is the maximum awarded, reflects the high quality of care being provided to the students of NDSU,” said Barbara Lonbaken, dean for student wellness.

A letter to NDSU states: “The dedication and effort necessary for an organization to be accredited is substantial, and the compliance with AAAHC standards implies a commitment to continual self-evaluation and continual improvement.”

Student Health Service provides a variety of services, including integrated health promotion, education for prevention of disease and clinical treatment for illness. Its mission is to support the academic success of a diverse student population in an atmosphere of health and wellness through education and services.

This is the third successful accreditation for Student Health Service since 2007.
