Information Technology Division announces new staff, organizational changes

NDSU’s Information Technology Division has promoted Micah McGowen to classroom technology manager and has hired an audiovisual systems specialist, help desk consultant and two audiovisual technicians.

Micah McGowen, classroom technology manager in the Technical Support Services unit, joined the division as a student classroom technician in 2002 and was promoted to a student manager position in 2005. After graduating from NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, McGowen worked as a support technician for Atlas Business Solutions Inc. He returned to NDSU in 2008 to take a classroom technology specialist position in the division, which he held until his recent promotion to classroom technology manager.

David Hamiga, who has worked as a desktop support specialist in the Information Technology Division since 2010, has been hired as an audiovisual systems specialist in the division’s Technical Support Services unit. Before coming to NDSU, Hamiga worked as a network support specialist for the Insurance Company of the West in San Diego, Calif. He also worked as a regional IT technician for DHI Financial Services in Carlsbad, Calif. Hamiga is pursuing a bachelor’s degree at NDSU.

Josh Teegarden has been hired as a help desk consultant. Teegarden worked as a student employee at the Help Desk since 2008. Prior to coming to NDSU, he served as the assistant technology coordinator at Northern Cass School in Hunter, N.D., while attending high school in that same district. Teegarden recently graduated from NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems.

Donovan Dobler has been hired as an audiovisual technician in the Technical Support Services unit. Dobler joined the division as a student classroom technician in 2011 and was promoted to a student manager role in 2012. He also serves as an information technology specialist with the North Dakota National Guard in Valley City. Dobler is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science at NDSU.

Zach Anderson has joined the division as an audiovisual technician in the Technical Support Services unit. Anderson was the manager of software and content integration at GeaCom Inc. in Duluth, Minn. While attending the University of Wisconsin-Superior, he held student positions as a video equipment manager and as a teaching and learning assistant in the institution’s technology services department. There, Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in communication arts – video production and in cultural theory.
