NDSU's fall enrollment sets record

NDSU’s fall 2013 enrollment is the highest in university history. The university’s official fourth-week enrollment is 14,629 undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

This fall’s class of first-year, degree-seeking students is the second largest in NDSU history, with 2,553 students—up 4.6 percent from fall 2012. NDSU also enrolled a record number of graduate students at 2,335—up more than 10 percent from last fall. International student enrollment, however, decreased from 1,136 last year to 1,101 this year.

NDSU continues to lead the state in the number of resident North Dakotans it enrolls.

“Fall enrollment is higher than anticipated even though international student enrollment is down,” said NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani. “We are experiencing one of our largest classes of first-year students and a record-breaking number of graduate students. Central to our strategic direction is the enrollment of traditional, full-time students oriented to NDSU’s reputation as a rigorous research university offering students an exceptional educational experience. We are pleased to see enrollment growth that reflects that direction.”

NDSU is North Dakota’s only university recognized as one of the nation’s top tier of 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
