Minard Hall rededication set for Oct. 12

A rededication ceremony for NDSU’s Minard Hall is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12, at 9:30 a.m., as part of the university’s Homecoming festivities.

Speakers at the event include NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani; Kent Sandstrom, dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Scott Wood, dean of the College of Science and Mathematics; Douglas Mayo, president and CEO of the NDSU Development Foundation and Alumni Association; and Erik Diederich, student government vice president.

The building will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tours will be provided following the rededication by members of the firm that designed the building’s latest renovations.

Members of the Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting to commemorate the event.

Minard Hall was opened fully for the first time since 2009 with the start of fall classes in August.

Parts of the building had been closed in phases throughout a renovation project to modernize the building.

Minard houses the English, communication, emergency management, history, philosophy and religious studies, sociology and anthropology, and modern languages departments from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. It also houses the mathematics and psychology departments from the College of Science and Mathematics as well as the deans’ offices for both colleges.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation’s top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
