Office of Institutional Research and Analysis

Welcome to the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis, the office through which the University monitors itself. We collect data about each of the departments on campus and use it to generate reports that are used by the departments as well as the administration. The office is a reliable source for authoritative information about the institution to serve both academic and administrative functions. The Office prepares standard reports for internal and external users.


The mission of the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis is to serve as a centralized data source providing meaningful information for effective decision making.

About The Office

Institutional Research and Analysis includes those activities directed at empirically describing and evaluating the educational, administrative, and support functions of North Dakota State University. These activities include data gathering, analyses, evaluation, summarization and reporting.

Examples of areas of reporting include:

1. Students data (admission, enrollment, academic outcomes, completions)

2. Organizational data (academic and non-academic data and reporting)

3. Institutional surveys (e.g., NSSE, Climate surveys)

4. Mandatory and optional external data reporting (e.g., IPEDS, Common Data Set)
