NDSU’s Office of Teaching and Learning will host a live, online webinar titled Engaging Students in Face-to-Face and Online Courses on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 3 to 4 p.m. This webinar will host featured speaker, Dr. Jay Howard, professor and dean at Butler University and author of Discussion in the College Classroom: Getting Your Students Engaged and Participating in Person and Online.
Jay Howard, Ph.D., will address the following topics:
- Why we should seek to engage students,
- Classroom norms that can undermine participation,
- Which students are most likely to participate,
- Which students are more likely to choose not to participate,
- Strategies for managing dominant talkers and quieter students, and
- How to effectively engage online students.
