Anthropology Major

31 credits are required for the Anthropology major.  The course requirements are:

  • SOC 110 Introduction to Sociology
  • ANTH 111 Introduction to Anthropology
  • ANTH 480 Development of Anthropological Theory (or another approved theory-based course)
  • ANTH 489 Senior Capstone (1 credit hour, must be taken the Fall prior to graduation)

plus any two of the following:

  • ANTH 204 Archaeology and Prehistory
  • ANTH 205 Human Origins
  • ANTH 206 Peoples of the World
  • ANTH 208 Folklore and Culture

plus 15 additional anthropology credits at the 400 level recommended by your academic advisor. Please see the Anthropology Courses page.

A B.A. in Anthropology requires foreign language proficiency at the two-year level. A B.S. in Anthropology requires completion of the requirements for a minor in another discipline. The degree also includes 40 general education credits and 12 credits of AHSS College requirements

Anthropology Minor

The 18 credit requirement for the anthropology minor includes Anthro 111, Soc 110, any two of the following: ANTH 204, 205, 206, 208 and two additional anthropology courses from the 400 level offerings.
