Through the use of the Pathlight App, you can enhance your safety by entering your destination and estimated travel time with the application.  This allows NDSU Police to quickly respond to you in the event of an emergency, or it will alert a dispatcher if you don't arrive within the time you allotted. You can also send a silent alarm to the dispatcher with the swipe of a finger if you feel threatened.  When you confirm your safe arrival at your destination, it stops tracking you. Note that the app only monitors you when you want it to; if you don't open and activate Pathlight, it cannot be used to determine your location

Included on this page are public safety awareness messages for events that happen within the proximity of the NDSU main campus and within the jurisdiction of the NDSU Police. These notifications are intended to alert the campus community to situations that might require awareness for personal safety.

The Campus Safety Escort Service is provided by the University Police and Safety office as a personal service to NDSU students and faculty. The service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week conducted by NDSU police officers and/or public safety officers on duty.

The emergency notification system used by the City of Fargo as well as all jurisdictions within Cass County, ND and Clay County, MN. This service allows you to opt-in to receive emergency alert and warning notifications via email, text message and/or voice communication methods based on the alert type and/or geographic locations you identify.

An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in the attempt to kill people in a confined and populated area. This course provides guidance to students, faculty, and staff so that they can prepare on how to respond to an active shooter situation. Note that if an access code is requested once logged in, the code for us is ‘NDSU’ as indicated on the right hand side of the training enrollment page.

The Fargo Police Department has partnered with CrimeReports.com to provide a tool for crime prevention, community awareness, and data transparency. Citizens can view most reported crimes reported to the Police Department and sign up for crime notifications based on user-defined parameters.

 R.A.D. is a nationally recognized program in self-defense for women.  As the cornerstone of R.A.D. Systems, this course has its foundations in education and awareness. The course includes some workshop style lecture and discussion.  Most of the course involves practicing actual self-defense techniques suitable for women of all ages and abilities.  This class is currently only offered to women. 

NDSU's Sexual Assault Prevention and Advocacy site offers various resources for those affected and those who wish to be ally's. There are many different ways to get involved in sexual assault prevention here on campus.

We Take a Stand is required violence prevention training for incoming NDSU students. This training focuses on interpersonal violence, sexual violence, stalking, and expectations for how everyone can play a part in making campus safer.

NDSU does not tolerate any form of discrimination, retaliation, or sexual misconduct and is committed to taking action against these convictions to (1.) stop it, (2) remedy its effects; and (3) prevent its recurrence. If you believe you have been subjected to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and/or sexual misconduct, you are encouraged to file a complaint.

The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center of Fargo-Moorhead area is here to provide crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and prevention education services. This is a no charge, confidential service for victims, children, adolescents, adults and elders.
