Fate and Transport of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in Soil-Water Systems
Rationale
Reproductive hormones are potent at very low concentrations. One study showed that 17beta-estradiol can cause reproductive disorders in fish at concentration as low as 100 ng/L. Natural and synthetic hormones are present in animal manures, which are spread directly on soil. Our research is looking at the fate of hormones and other bioactive in soil and water.
