The NDSU School of Pharmacy is holding a continuing education opportunity for community, hospital or consultant pharmacists. “A Focus on Opioid Misuse and Use Disorders” runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, September 29 at the DoubleTree by Hilton at 825 East Beaton Drive in West Fargo.
Registration is available through the day of the event. Speakers from the NDSU School of Pharmacy, Fargo Cass Public Health, Heartview Foundation and Southeast Human Services Center will discuss how pharmacists in the community can help target opioid abuse prevention. The event is made possible by a grant from the FM Area Foundation.

John Holt, MS, LAC, LPC, Southeast Human Services Center Licensed Addiction Counselor, Fargo, ND
Pharmacists will discuss how opioid affects the brain, learn what medical conditions may lead to a higher predisposition to abuse opioids, the platform for pharmacists to prescribe naloxone, demonstration of patient/caregiving education for naloxone, community resources, collaboration with addiction treatment centers and other topics. There is a fee for the seminar.
