Generous donors contributed $565,864 to fund scholarships for students in the NDSU College of Health Professions for 2022-23.
Students in pharmacy, nursing, allied sciences, health services and public health celebrated scholarship awards through an in-person and virtual event on September 15, 2022 at the Fargodome.
Students in Health Professions acknowledge the valuable support received from scholarship donors.
“As a student, I appreciate having scholarships so much because it helps take the stress of making an income throughout college so that I can really focus on school and the internship I have. I feel very supported in having scholarships and donors to help me out,” said Sarah Wirz, pharmacy class of 2024.
One scholarship was given in honor and memory of Dr. Robert E. Nelson, BCPS, (PharmD ’97) who was twice named Teacher of the Year in NDSU the School of Pharmacy. “Rob was so grateful for the scholarships he received. We want to lift up the next generation of pioneers in pharmacy so they can reach for their dreams and goals and improve the lives of others,” said the family of Dr. Nelson.
Another donor who established the Pamela Puppe Nursing Scholarship appreciates the role of nursing. “I'm giving this gift in hopes that someday you will pay it forward and help another young person fulfill their dream in becoming a nurse….I hope you will accept this gift knowing the difference you can and will make in so many people’s lives.”
“We greatly appreciate generous donors who make these scholarships possible,” said Charles D. Peterson, dean of the College of Health Professions. “Scholarships help provide our students support to pursue their education in health professions.”
