Spring 2025 Meal Plan Changes

The Union Dining Center will permanently close on December 20, 2024 for a complete redesign and renovation. The space will reopen next fall as the Union Market, the newest addition to NDSU’s food court.

With the UDC closure, Burgum, Churchill, and Dinan residents who have an unlimited meal plan will receive NEW meal plan perks and enhancements to use during the spring semester!

Meal Plan Perks:

Daily Block Plan Swipe
  • Monday through Friday, you will receive a daily block plan swipe that can be used as an additional to-go swipe from the dining centers or at any of the on-campus eateries that accept block plans, including Minard Coffee Shop, Barry Hall Coffee Shop, Twisted Taco, Hoagie Hut, Burgers at the U, and Caribou Coffee (NEW for the spring semester only)!
$50 Dining Dollars
  • Dining Dollars have a dollar-to-dollar value and can be used at any Dining location, for any menu item. Grab a Starbucks Frappuccino® from Minard, try our famous quesadilla from Twisted Taco, or devour one of our specialty creations from Burgers at the U. Dining Dollars give you the ultimate food flexibility.

  • What is the project timeline? The Union Dining Center will close on Friday, December 20. The Union Market will open for the fall of 2025.
  • When do the perks begin and end? Meal plan perks will start on Monday, January 13, 2025, and end on Friday, May 16, 2025.
  • Who gets the meal plan perks? Students in Dinan, Churchill and Burgum Halls who have a 5- or 7-day unlimited meal plan will receive the Monday - Friday daily block plan swipe and $50 worth of Dining Dollars. Students who have a block plan will not receive the additional block plan swipes or Dining Dollars, but will be able to enjoy the extended hours in the food court and the NEW Caribou block plan menu! 
  • Which locations accept block plans? Barry Hall Coffee Shop, Burgers at the U, Caribou Coffee (NEW addition for spring 2025 only), Hoagie Hut, Minard Coffee Shop, Residence Dining Center, Twisted Taco, and West Dining Center.
  • What is a block plan menu? At each location, there is a select menu you can order from. Each menu allows you to choose one entrée and two sides. Check out the spring 2025 block plan menu for all locations.
  • How do I use a block plan swipe?
    • Dining Center (if you are using your additional to-go swipe): At the cashier desk, look for the "takeout" sign where you will scan your finger, tap your NDSU ID card after showing it to the cashier, or scan-in with the GET mobile app.
    • Coffee Shop or Food Court Locations: Before you order, tell the team member that you are using a block plan swipe.
  • How do I use my Dining Dollars? When you pay, tell the Dining team member that you are paying with Dining Dollars, then tap your ID card.
  • Will my Dining Dollars expire? Dining Dollars will expire on Friday, May 16, 2025
  • What will happen if I move to a different hall? Meal plan perks are for residents of Burgum, Churchill, and Dinan only. If you move your Dining Dollars and daily block plan swipe will go away.
  • If I don’t use my daily block plan swipe, will it roll over? No. You will receive one block plan swipe per day, Monday – Friday, and it expires at the end of that day. Also, note that block plan swipes are not provided on holidays or when the campus is closed.
