NDSU Public Health Week events scheduled

NDSU is scheduled to host several events during “Public Health Week and Beyond,” from March 29 through April 10, 2018.

“Through highlighting important topics during Public Health Week, we hope to show positive examples of what can be done as a community and a nation to promote health for all," explained Abby Gold, vice chair and associate professor of public health.

Event Schedule:

Thursday, March 29

Event: “From the Ashes” film screening
Time and Place: 5 – 8 p.m., NDSU Memorial Union Century Theater

Attend a special screening of From the Ashes, RadicalMedia LLC and Bloomberg Philanthropies' groundbreaking new documentary. Presented by National Geographic TV the film takes a compelling and often heartbreaking look at stake for our economy, health, and climate.

Tuesday, April 3

Event: New Perspective on Refugees in the Community Roundtable: Changing our Future Together
Time and Place: 10-11:30 a.m., NDSU Memorial Union, Arikara Room

As part of 2018 National Public Health Week, this event will address the importance of creating a future where health and opportunity are enjoyed by all.

  • Use of supportive services
  • Refugees’ impact on FM area
  • Crime
  • “I am not a ‘Refugee,’ I am me"

Event: Dr. Avish Nagpal Medical Director, Sanford Fargo Infectious Disease Control
“Chronic Hepatitis and Women’s Health”

Reception to follow presentation.

Dr. Nagpal’s research and medical practice focus on several infectious disease specialty areas, including cardiovascular infections, health care-associated infections, transplant related infections and infectious hepatitis.
