How will I know if there are people with disabilities needing accommodation in my class?

You will receive a Notification of Academic Support Services by email from the office of Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources (CADR) whenever a student with a documented disability requests academic accommodation. This letter explains how to manage their specific accommodations in the classroom, for testing, and how to use their auxiliary aids at home. It may be useful for you, the instructor, to make a copy of this notice to also have reference on the student’s specific accommodations. You may wish to state in class that individuals requiring accommodations should contact you after class or during office hours. Print this information in your syllabus. In this way you give students “permission” to approach you with their needs. A suggested syllabus statement is provided in the Sample Syllabus section above.
