Swaha Pattanaik, an MPH student, co-authored a policy brief for the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). The brief titled "HIV/AIDS in rural america: Disproportionate impact on minority and multicultural populations" discussed the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS and its changing trends of infected individuals.
The majority of cases (82.5 percent) are still found in the major urban areas with 10.3 percent in smaller metro areas and now up to about 6.2 percent in rural areas. The brief also discusses the HIV policy recommendations regarding prevention, detection, treatment, development and coordination in rural areas.
Feel free to read this and other brief's on the NRHA website.
