Seim Hall
Seim Hall is where the Seim Squad resides! Members of the Seim Squad get to know their neighbors, make memories that will last a lifetime, and make the most out of their college experience. The Resident Assistants (RAs) and Hall Director look forward to helping residents create connections in their suites, within their houses, and to NDSU as a whole. The Seim Squad can look forward to the End of the Year Bash in the spring, which is when all of the residence halls come together for an afternoon of inflatable obstacle courses, music, and loads of fun!

Hi everyone! My name is Vanessa Attaya (she/her/hers) and I am the Hall Director for Seim Hall. I am brand new to NDSU and super excited to be here, but a little scared of the winters! I am from the greater Boston area and although we have a good bit of snow, I don’t know if it is a match for a Fargo winter.
I completed my bachelors at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester MA. I like to joke and say that I really took advantage of that liberal arts education because I double majored in economics and Spanish and minored in studio art. After I graduated, I taught English in Spain for about a year and when I was there, I was definitely bit by the travel bug. While saving my money between trips, I really enjoy the outdoors, being active, and working with my hands.
I am passionate about my position as Hall Director. College is such an important time to learn, grow, and make lifelong connections and memories. I am honored to be part of that journey for the students here. It is important to me that everyone is safe, welcomed, and has the resources to achieve their goals. Please stop by my office to say hi and never be afraid to reach out.

History
Seim Hall (originally the West High Rise) was built in 1972 as the third in a series of nine-story high rise buildings. It housed 293 male and female students in two-story subdivisions alternating between seventy men and seventy women. The West High Rise was renamed Seim Hall in 1984 to honor Norm Seim, NDSU's Housing Director for twenty-two years.
Seim was originally from Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He entered Moorhead State College in 1941 and earned a two-year teaching degree. Seim enlisted in the U. S. Army after the 1941-42 school year. He served for three years in the Southwest Pacific where he earned a commission as Second Lieutenant. In 1946, Seim enrolled at NDAC and graduated in the winter of 1949-50 with a degree in industrial engineering. In 1962, he became Director of Housing at NDSU. He retired in 1984 after twenty-two years of service to NDSU (It's Happening at State, June 27, 1984, p. 7-8).
